Sport is a very important part in the daily life of the Carrigallen Vocational School and its students. The sports department is committed to providing sporting opportunities for boys and girls. A notable feature of the school is the participation of so many teachers on voluntary basis to coach and prepare teams.
Girl’s football takes place at Junior and Senior level. Carrigallen has had success in recent years winning the Senior Competition in 2010. Our first year girls also take part in football blitzes throughout the county and were successful in 2012 in Ballinamore.
Badminton was introduced to Carrigallen Vocational School in 2015 by Mrs Gallagher and is available to all year groups. Currently, over 70 students participate in Badminton Club. A committee has been nominated, to coordinate the club, with representatives from each year.
Students play badminton in Carrigallen Hall once every two or three weeks. Experienced students help train/teach new players/beginners.
Since its introduction the students in Badminton Club have participated in a variety of fun events and tournaments organised by Mrs Gallagher and Connacht Badminton.
