The Vocational School, Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim is
a post-primary (second level) school located in south-east Leitrim. It
opened in 1957 as a three room building with an enrolment of 35 students
and a staff of three teachers. To-day it has sixteen classrooms, an
enrolment of 240 students (123 boys, 117 girls; 138 in the Junior Cycle
and 102 in the Senior Cycle) and a staff of twenty teachers. Permanent
extensions were added to the school in 1965, 1989 and 1992, culminating
in a five classroom extension in 1995. Plans are being drawn up for a
gymnasium in the school grounds to meet the sporting and recreational
needs of the school and community.

The school is co-educational and multi-denominational and draws its
students from seventeen primary schools in a catchment area located in
South Leitrim and West Cavan.

Small classes are the norm in this school, and this, together with
the dedication of a fully qualified staff, helps our students to attain
the highest standards in both quality of work and personal
development.
